Bio
Media Production (2006 - 2014)
After achieving a BA in Media Production from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2006, I started my career in radio and television. I began operating sound boards but quickly moved to production, engineering and voice talent. I also produced several music recordings, including live broadcasts and two garage rock EPs of my band, The Stomps.
My experience with digital codex devices led to a position with the 2010 Census. As Office Operations Supervisor for 1500 field employees, I did tech support for canvassing and coordinated with agents in 35 Wisconsin counties.
During this time I was also freelancing in gallery tech, using my experience for multimedia installations at UW-Eau Claire, Eau Claire Regional Arts Center and eventually Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York.
Rochester, New York (2011-2014)
Known as "Image City" Rochester was home to companies like Kodak and Xerox and was an excellent location to develop a career in multimedia. Most of my experience was in photography, working in portrait, industrial, and events photography. While doing product photography for ewaste.com, I earned the opportunity to work on marketing for eBay. Our team of four did $100k per month, myself listing up to 100 tech salvage items per day.
eCommerce & Digital Marketing (2014 - 2018)
Back in the Midwest with intent to develop my design skills, I went to work in the Print and Design industry for DigiCOPY. In addition to some light design, I operated industrial-scale operations in printing, bindery, foamcore, lamination and cutting.
With my experience in eBay marketing, photography and design, I was hired as eCommerce and Web Director at 50-50 Factory Outlet, a chain of party stores with four locations in Wisconsin. During 2016-2018 I developed the scope and vision for running a digital marketing division on an equal or larger scale.
Client Management (2018 - 2019)
In 2018 I expanded my scope by taking on a client portfolio of over 50 businesses ($200k+ in annual revenue) as Social Media Manager with Optimize Social Media in St. Paul, Minnesota. Though I was successful in this position, and received an excellent recommendation from Director of Operations Aric Toboleski, I made the decision to focus on my own clients back in Eau Claire.
In 2018 and 2019, as Marketing Consultant, I have taken on several freelance projects including Farrell Equipment, Leader-Telegram/PixelInk, and MacMan Inc. brands. In 2018, I worked with Farrell in developing an eCommerce store front and payment gateways, and in 2019 helped MacMan in developing a Digital Marketing division. In 2020, I helped to build logistics and fulfillment operations for Midwest Home Supply, an overstock liquidator in the Eau Claire area.
Creative Leadership & Project Management (2019 - 2020)
In 2019 I moved to a full-time Marketing Strategist position with Satellite Six marketing agency, where I worked with a variety of Partner Clients ($480k+ in annual revenue) to deliver a full-service marketing and visual content partnership. My role was to facilitate brand, conversion and market share growth by developing longterm campaigns and initiatives. I was also responsible for delegating tasks to a team of web developers, designers and inbound marketers.
My greatest accomplishment to date was managing a $120k, 800-hour, 6-month rebrand, web launch, and trade show tour project that came in under budget at 720 hours. I was successful by making a plan and sticking to it, and by keeping my team of designers, programmers and inbound agents on task.
Freelance & Nonprofit (2020 - 2023)
Professional Development
In addition to full time positions and seasonal projects, I invest a great deal of time into professional development. This includes training through platforms like Hubspot, Udemy and Digital Marketer Labs, and plenty of reading like the titles pictured below. I have attended several marketing conferences such as the Annual Marketing & Social Media Conference hosted by the Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce. My interest and focus tends towards branding and higher-level engagement strategies, though I find inspiration in a variety of disciplines. The field of marketing is constantly and rapidly changing, so it is important for me to remain on the vanguard and have a good understanding of what is working within the industry.
